MBA Night with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra

       MBA students are invited to join other students from universities throughout the area and local businesses PNC Bank, Arrow Materials, and Modern Transportation for a night of networking, dinner, and cocktails. This event will be held on Friday, January 27th in the Dorothy Porter Simmons Regency Rooms, in Heinz Hall, starting at 6:30pm.


       After the dinner, The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and PNC will present: Marvin and the Movies. Conductor Marvin Hamlisch and Grammy-nominated Saxophonist Dave Koz will be performing with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra at 8:00pm. Join them as they perform music from The Wizard of Oz, West Side Story, and Hunt for Red October along with Marvin’s Academy Award-winning song “The Way we were.” Viewers will also enjoy songs from The Pink Panther, James Bond, Blazing Saddles, and more.

Scholarships Available for International Programs

For the 2012 academic year, the Center for Global Engagement is offering up to $500 scholarships to RMU students who wish to participate in one of RMU's faculty-led study abroad programs.

In order to be qualified for a scholarship, you have to register in one of the program offered courses.  Applications will be scored based on the following criteria:

1. Statement of Purpose
2. Copy of checksheet (minimum G.P.A of 2.5)

Students with interest in the program and scholarship can obtain an application at the Center for Global Engagement, located on the 2nd floor of the Nicholson Center, Room 259.

Xfinity Conducting Search to Fill “The Ultimate Sports Social Media Job

Consumers can win the job of their dreams and represent Xfinity behind-the-scenes at the biggest sporting events across the country in 2012

Xfinity is launching a nationwide contest to hire an individual who will serve as the voice of Xfinity in the sports social media space and go behind-the-scenes at the biggest sporting events across the country, delivering exclusive content and insights for fans.

The contest, entitled “Xfinity Presents: The Ultimate Sports Social Media Job”, runs from January 9 through March 14^th in search of the next sports social media star.

The winner will receive a one-year salary and will be responsible for sharing content and insights via the @XFINITYSports Twitter handle on a continual basis, reporting live from premier sporting events throughout 2012, and educating and engaging avid sports fans in social media communities. In addition to live event access, the winner will also receive all the electronics for the ultimate sports pad, including televisions, home audio/video equipment, etc.

From January 9 – February 3, consumers can log on to Facebook.com/Xfinity and then go to the “Xfinity Presents: The Ultimate Sports Social Media Job” contest tab to submit video between 30 seconds and two minutes in length explaining why they should be selected as the sports social media voice of Xfinity based on their sports knowledge, social media expertise, personality, and passion for Comcast products and services.

The top 100 video submissions will be featured on the Ultimate Sports Social Media Job contest tab located on the Facebook.com/Xfinity for fans to vote on from February 6-19. The five entrants with the most votes will advance to advance to the final round of the contest where they will cover one of five premier sports events the weekend of March 8-11. 

The five (5) finalist experiences are tentatively scheduled for:

·         The NASCAR Sprint Cup Race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (NASCAR)

·         The WGC Cadillac Championship at Doral (PGA)

·         A Major League Baseball Spring Training Game (MLB)

·         The Washington Capitals @ Boston Bruins (NHL)

·         The Indiana Pacers @ Miami Heat (NBA)

Each candidate will receive access typically granted to event personnel, athletes and media and be asked to chronicle their live experiences behind-the-scenes with tweets, video uploads, and short posts that will be featured on the Xfinity Facebook contest tab as well as their own social media channels.

Following that weekend, a panel of celebrity judges will evaluate each performance and announce the winner of “Xfinity Presents: The Ultimate Sports Social Media Job” contest on Wednesday, March 14th.

Timeline:

·         Contest Execution:  January 9, 2012 – February 3, 2012

·         Fan Voting (to select a Top 5):  February 6, 2012 – February 19, 2012

·         (5) Finalist Auditions / Experiences:  March 8, 2012 – March 11, 2012

·         Winner Selected:  March 14, 2012
