Who is Dean Litzinger?

Professor Litzinger joined the faculty of Robert Morris University (then, Robert Morris College) in September, 1977.  He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in economics.  Joining the faculty as an Assistant Professor, he was twice promoted to his current position of Professor of Economics.  He also currently serves as Interim Dean, School of Business, and heads the Department of Economics and Legal Studies.  He was a founder and co-director of The Leonard M. Kokkila Center for Economic Education at Robert Morris University and an original organizer and co-director of a nationally recognized conference on teaching economics held annually at Robert Morris University since 1990.
A native of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Professor Litzinger earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, a Master of Arts in Economics, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics at the University of Pittsburgh.  He was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa while an undergraduate.  He was a member of the faculty at Thiel College, Greenville, Pennsylvania, and has taught classes at several other colleges and universities.
Professor Litzinger regularly makes presentations at academic conferences and meetings and is the author, or coauthor, of a number of articles and book reviews in the field of economics.  He holds membership in a number of professional associations and is a past president of the Pennsylvania Economic Association.
Professor Litzinger is a founder and current member of the Military Affairs Council of Western Pennsylvania.  He is a past president of the Airport Area Development Council and of the Western Pennsylvania Coalition for Military Presence and Job Retention.  He is a member of the Board of Trustees, Sewickley Savings Bank.
Professor Litzinger was a licensed insurance agent/stockbroker for six years during early years of his teaching at Robert Morris.  He has completed several consulting projects in the field of economics.  Between his undergraduate and graduate school years, he served two years of active duty in the United States Army.  After which, he was transferred at his rank of Specialist 5 to four years of inactive reserve duty.  During his student years he worked a combined total of one year as a steelworker and member of the United Steelworkers of America.
Patrick and Joyce Slat Litzinger reside in Moon Township, Pennsylvania, and have two grown children.
