Introducing Dean Beehler!

Robert Morris University welcomes Dr. John M. Beehler (Ph.D., CPA) as the new Dean for the School of Business. Dr. Beehler has an extensive professional background in both the field of Accounting and Higher Education.

Dr. Beehler has been with Robert Morris University since January of 2013. He chose to come to RMU because he sees immense potential for RMU’s School of Business going into the future. He says that he strives to “bring the School of Business to greater levels of excellence.”

Some of Dr. Beehler’s plans for the RMU School of Business in the near future include:
    • Strategic planning efforts to renew the School of Business’ AACSB accreditation
    • Hire a sufficient number of Accounting and Management professors to ensure AACSB learning assessment
    • Re-connect with RMU School of Business alumni
    • Build a stronger relationship between the University and the local Business community
    • Achieve a separate AACSB accreditation for the Accounting Program
Dr. Beehler did not originally plan to work in Higher Education. He was working for Haskin & Sells, now Deloitte, which is a big 8 International Accounting Firm when he decided that he wanted to attend graduate school. He entered into the MBA program at Indiana University, where he qualified to be an associate instructor in order to pay his way through the program. When he first started graduate school, he intended on entering back into the corporate world. However, during his time as an associate instructor, he found higher education to be a more rewarding field. He then went on to earn his Ph.D. in Accounting and Taxation with a minor in Law.

Dr. Beehler enjoys spending time with his family and loves sports and fitness. He says “I used to play tennis, now I love to golf.” He enjoys running, biking and weightlifting.

The RMU School of Business looks forward seeing Dean Beehler’s plans for the school unfold successfully!
